Gastón Roca started his professional career as director of photography (DP), shooting feature films, advertising, TV films and documentaries. His work in this field has been shown on Chilean and international television and in Cannes Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, Goya Awards Spain, La Habana Film Festival amongst other prestigious international film festivals for advertising; feature films and documentaries. He was awarded the Best Photography prize in the New England Film Festival.
As a director / writer he has worked in all genres of visual storytelling. He received the Grand Prix from the Chilean advertising agencies in the year 1998, The FIAP international advertising gold prize, the Best Short Film prize in the Viña del Mar International Film Festival 2000, the Best Short Film prize in the MITL – UNESCO International Film Festival 2002. He has written and directed over 150 TV films and documentaries, broadcasted nationally in Chile and internationally on cable TV, and has been awarded numerous Chilean state funds to develop his works.
From the year 2006 through the year 2011 he was general director for fiction TV films in Chilevisión a national TV broadcaster in Chile supervising over 200 independent TV films production.
Gastón Roca is presently working as director / writer in advertising, feature films and documentaries for rocafilms and as a free lance director/writer for independent production companies in Chile and Latin America.
